Sakura (2024)
Single-Channel Video, 9x16
Exhibited at the Digital Dreams Gallery in Kansas City, MO, as part of the inaugural exhibition.
Sakura takes inspiration from the cherry blossoms that bloom in Japan each spring, symbolizing renewal and the fleeting nature of life. These blossoms, while vibrant and beautiful, last only a short time, serving as a reminder to embrace the present moment.
In this video artwork, computer coding brings digital flowers to life, allowing them to bloom and wilt in a cycle that mirrors nature. By combining the natural and the digital, Sakura reflects on how our experiences in the digital age can still connect us to timeless human truths, celebrating the beauty and impermanence of life.
